Hi y'all. I'm stupid. I have to confess I did something stupid. I live in south Texas now and ALL the women have beautiful hands and nails. I have always had manicures and kept my nails healthy and short. But I decided to break my norm and started to grow them out. They were doing great. Then a nail broke. So the tech put on a "tip". I had no problems. Them a few more broke so I had tips put on all my fingers and my fingers hurt. But I ignored it. Then I went in for a "fill". My thumb became infected and blistered up. Then they all did on the next fill. This is a clean facility. The only thing I can think of is my ammune system attacked my nails. I had them removed and it's awful.

I hands are typical reynauds hands but I never had the blisters. They hate the cold and they turn the red and white and very rarely blue fingers. Now my fingers are UGLY as ugly can be! It will take a year before they are back to normal.

So that is my confession. Stupid.

Txgirl, don't be so hard on yourself. I was told by a friend that always have their nails done that most nail salons use UV light to cure the acrylics. It could be the light that you were reacting to. When I had to have some dental work done they used a UV light in my mouth to harden the cap. One of my worst flares to date was from that.

Hey....Texas?

I have been made fun of...because of my nails.

I play guitar.  it's much more important to me than having pretty nails.

:O)

Eureka! I think shutterbug is onto something. But how could you have known, Texas? You did nothing stupid. Stupid would have been if you'd known about the UV light, had had issues with it in the past, but decided to go the nail route anyway.

All you wanted was pretty nails. I hope your hands heal faster than expected.

Thanks ladies and Mr Bun. Shutterbug You always remember to put two things together. I didn't even think of the UV lights. When you put "shellac" on your nails they use the UV lights. But for 2 minutes at a time. When you have acrylic put on you will sit in the lights for 10 minutes. Blah.

I might be walking into a flare. I'm missing work today because every bone hurts. I'll start preg tomorrow if it continues.

Thanks again for making me feel better. Ugly hands and all.

TX?
I  love nice nails also. I actually buy glue on nails made by KISS ($5.99). They last about 10 days and then I remove them, and do it again a few weeks later. I cant tell you how many times someone at work said, "I love your nails!" And my reply is always, "Thanks! I glued them on myself!"  smiley: 0rofl - keystrokes: :rofl1

Hey, TX. I don't know yet if I have an AI, but I do cope with chronic illness and am a slave to it. My looks went down the drain in my twenties. Being comfortable is the most important thing in the world...but sometimes I still think it would be nice to do something to look pretty, too. You didn't know what would happen, so please give yourself a break!

Yep lots of coughing up blood but I had to get a shot in my hip last week and the other hip this week.

It's been really hot and I haven't been feeling well and then I have not sleeping well and I kinda figured out why I wasn't sleeping well. It seems that when I was putting my meds into the weekly container and moving pills from one bottle to the new prescription one bottle fell between the couch cushions. I found it and thought ok just one fell not 2 because I only found one bottle but it seems that one of my seizures med was under the couch and therefore I have not taken it since Sat urday night. Talk about dumb. I can't believe I did that.

It's cooler today and since I just got a shot today in my hip I got one of those roasted chickens at the grocery store with a salad and a French bread and that's dinner.
