You know what was weird for me. My private disability company told me just because I was approved for SSDI by social security does not mean they would automatically approve me. I was shocked. They tried hard to prove that I could still work. I had to go to their doctor and be examine and while there I had a seizure. I was lucky that my husband took the day off from work to go with me. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive one way and they were supposed to arrange transportation for me high they did not so hubby took off. He lost a days pay (if he does not work he does not get paid) but since I had the seizure and he was there I did not have to go to the hospital which was real nice.

Hang in there hopefully you will get approved soon

Got confirmation today that I have been approved for Canada Pension Plan Disability benefits.  It's a Federal program.  Most applications are denied.  A 65% denial rate.

You have no idea how much this means to me.  Eviction procedings were in the works. I was shopping at the food bank....allowed every 25 days to receive emergency food.  On welfare.....after working for 31 years for the provincial Ontario government.

My brother, who I have mentioned often these last few posts....was approved last week and didn't tell me......because he thought it would upset me.....as I hadn't heard anything. God love him.  I texted him tonight and we both were so excited to be finally recognized as disabled.

It give creedence to our many years of plight.

just had to share the good news.

because....I know you all would understand.

Sorry I'm just seeing this.

No, I didn't need to go before a judge. It's not done that way; although it may be if you appeal a certain number of times. I'm sure other members are more knowledgeable on that than I am.

YIPPPEEEEEEE!! This must be an enormous weight off your shoulders. I don't know about Canada, but here in the U.S, once approved you get a nice cushy check for backdated payments from the original date of application. It sure helped me catch up a bit.

I'm so happy for you.

Yay for Bun.

Whill like I said earlier if you appeal and keep getting denied then it goes before a judge and everything changes. With an attorney. They only get paid if you get approved and at the time I was approved there was a cap of how much the attorney could get paid

Now when you have to go before the judge things change. It's more work and more of their time and the last person I talked to about this the attorney got 25% of all back pay. This person had been fighting for 3 years to get approval

Bun again.....

Received news yesterday that my employer's long term disability plan had approved my application.

Simply put, I am officially recognized as a disabled Bun.

Now, instead of worrying about where I am going to live.....I can concentrate on LIVING.

hot damn.  yay!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations, Bun. That has to be a huge relief for you; it is certainly a major stress reducer. As you say, now you "can concentrate on living" and, hopefully, better sleep.
