Wow! But shouldn't some doctors be arrested also? They're the one's that wrote the prescriptions that defrauded the insurance companies, then took a kick-back from the manufacturer.

This kind of stuff makes me crazy! The more fraud and mis-prescribing that is gtoing on, the more hesitant pain management doctors are to write the Rx that some of us really need. I have been off the boards for a little bit because things went south for a bit. My rheumy added to my now page and a half diagnosis list, with ankylosing spondylitis and enthesitis (like fibro but in the tendons and ligaments as well). I've started Embrel--anyone with experience? How long does it take to begin to make a difference? Success? Would so appreciate your input.
I have been a fixture in the ER lately and my doc FINALLY is doing something about the pain and my inability to walk/sit for more than a short while. Already i am moving better and my pain is half of what it was...
The climate for pain management doctors and patients is rough here in Ohio. All the pain scales and the signs "we are committed to your pain management" have been taken down, and doctors are hard-nosed about prescribing pain meds. Even with my colorful history it took months to convince him to try something else just to get me moving. Together we are starting to make some progress.

I'd be interested in hearing about others experiences with pain management in the current climate...

Thank you,
Helen
