Hey ya'll!! I'm a 30 yr old AA female looking for lots of love and advice. I started having multiple joint pain back in August of last year. My pcp proposed several X-rays and Nerver conduction studies because she thought it may have been neuropathy. I said, no way lady, I'm too young for that. So she started taking some blood tests and low and behold she found a positive ANA of 1:160, speckled pattern with a positive SSB/La. So she referred me to a rheumy who on my first visit only drew a ANA and a CBC.. like seriously? I've worked in healthcare for 10 yrs and I could've told him that wasn't gon tell him something new. So anyway, he diagnosed me with plantar fasciitis after I told him about my thyroid disorder, joint pain, fatigue, losing my hair, chest pain, and dry mouth and eyes. Yeah, sounds bout right. So of course I'm getting a second opinion from a second rheumy and she ran about 8 tests which all came back WNL, except for the Ana and SSB do she started me on the lovely Plaqenil. Been taking it since February so I'm waiting on my relief to kick in. My feet are starting to swell almost every other night and this just Tuesday, my knee was swollen. Rheumy called in some Prenidsone for me to take which I'm not thrilled about. Anybody know what could be causing the random swelling in my feet and knee? I work at a desk and I go to school at night but I try to move around and not sit at the desk or in my sit for too long.

Welcome! My feet swell also and I'm an accountant. I sit a lot. I have not found a remedy for it yet. The plaqnel should start relieving some of your pain soon. It's a slow process. One day it's like... wow! I can do stuff. Then it rains and you feel horrible Again. We've been discussing rain a lot lately. It sounds like you have a good Reumy this time. Keep in mind it takes years usually to get a Dx. Which is ok. Your getting your treatment. That is what counts. So many of us have a Dx of MCTD/UCTD.

I look forward to hearing your journey. Good luck and keep us informed.

Thank you!! Yeah she said it mimics other diseases so they want to be sure. I have a friend I think it took them almost 8 years to diagnose her. I just think that's so crazy! 8 years in Limbo! She travels outside of MS to see her rheumy to Louisiana. I've been thinking about doing the same but I swell up like a balloon if I drive too long! This is so new to me and none of my friends and family really understand. Yeah we have similar weather! My best friend lives in North Texas, where I use to, and the rain one day 99 degrees the next throws my body into a whirlwind. It feels like now that's it's gotten warmer, I'm starting to develop more s/s. Do you get headaches?
