I am recently diagnosed with Lupus. My ANA wad elevatef, but that was mostly it. I started having migratory pain, swelling and rashes in beginning in January. I had difficulty completing activities of daily living due to the severe pain in shoulders, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles. With a lot of Advil, I functioned during the day, but by the afternoon, I could barely function, sometimes not. My rheumatologist put me on a round of prednisone and I began HCQ in February. My symptoms resolved mostly by March. I am not in any pain anymore and not taking any pain medicine. I have no skin symptoms. Or swelling or soreness. I've resumed my regular activities.
I have never had any symptoms before, but rheumatoid arthritis runs in my family. I'm beginning to wonder if I really have Lupus. I understand everyone is affected differently by Lupus, but I feel so normal now. Is it normal for there to be long periods between flairs? What is normal?

Hi and welcome. My sister was dx before me. She has very few issues. Her chief complaint is regarding her wrist. Has for me lupus has hit every organ I have and then some. Prednisone will take away your symtoms and make you feel better. I would suggest you keep a note book regarding all your symtoms and questions so that when you see the rhemy you won't forget anything
Also please keep in mind that there are between 60-80 different AI's out there that mimic lupus. It's why lupus is hard to dx.
Take some time and read the posts here. Wendo play around some but there is a lot of good information out there
Good luck and please excuse and grammar or spelling issues. It has not been a good day for me. __________________ The bond that links our true family is not one of blood, but one of respect and joy in each other's life
