An injected formulation of Benlysta (belimumab) is a safe and effective lupus treatment, according to a Phase 3 clinical trial that tested an alternative to administering the therapy intravenously.

About darn time. I participated in this study in 2013-2014. I was in one of the last groups. This makes using Benlysta so much easier than running to a clinic or hospital to do an IV infusion, you just inject yourself once a week at home and see your doctor for labs every 3 months for labs. The doctor may have the patients do the first couple of injections at the office to make sure that they are doing them properly, then you do them yourself. I thought it was great while I did the clinical trial.

I had the plecbo for 12 months, but when I got on the Benlysta for the final 6 months I felt so much better.
I figure Benlysta really can't be any worse than some of the other meds I have already taken. Besides I would rather give myself a weekly injection than run to the clinic for the infusion and waste half a day or more and only see my doctor once every 3 months for labs.
