Hi there. I don't really know where to start. I'm waiting to see a rheumatologist at the moment. That will be happening on May 18th. My neurologist is sending me because bloodwork he did indicates that I have a connective tissue disorder like lupus or sjogrens. I am new to the autoimmune scene but not the chronic illness one. If  I do have lupus it will be adding more illness on to what I already have.

Right now my biggest problem is the pain. The pain seems to be everywhere. My joints hurt. My muscles hurt. I feel like I have neuropathy. My neurologist did a nerve conduction test that came back all right, but he thinks I may have small fiber neuropathy. I think I do. He's waiting on the rheumatologist before he sends me for a biopsy because the small fiber neuropathy possibly may be from my neurological problem but probably isn't.

So, how do you guys cope with the joint and muscle pain? Do any of you have neuropathy? It's really difficult to sleep at night with the pain.

Hi, Moiraine, and welcome to the boards! I know some others here have neuropathy, so hopefully they'll show up. As for joint and muscle pain, I soak in a hot bath with epsom salts. Keeping my legs elevated helps the muscle pain, so I'm married to my recliner. Well, actually, we're just living together, but it's a committed relationship. :)

That said, you should know that there are over 80 different autoimmune disorders, and it often takes years for docs to determine if it's lupus or something else. It's a good you're going to see a rheumatologist, though, and once he or she has a better idea of what's going on, you might get started on Rx anti-inflammatories that could help the pain.

I'm sorry you've had to deal with a lot of health issues. I hope you get this sorted out soon!

Thank you for your reply, taffylinden. It means a lot to me. I will try the Epson salt baths.
