Glad you got good news on the labs, Heidi!

I know skin biopsies for lupus show specific things not seen in other disorders....particularly if discoid. So just keep being sun safe :)

Thank you for the replies. Yes, I will try to be more safe in the sun.  I hate to have another biopsy done on my face, but maybe if a patch shows up in a less noticeable location.  Thank you so much.

Meaning less noticeable location on my face for a second biopsy, etc

I had three biopsies done and I can't see where any of them were done. One was just bellow my left ear lobe, the second was about a half inch from my left eye, and the third was in the middle of my forehead. They had all come back as inconclusive, but the dermatologist at the Medical College of Wisconsin said it looked like lupus to her anyway. I already had been dx'd with sleep, but until I saw her nobody knew what the patches were on my face. I really didn't care what people thought about about the bandages or possible scars, I wanted to know what was wrong and have it treated. Those spots still show up as red circles if I been out in the heat and sun too long even with sun block and a hat, sometimes they are there in the morning and fade away after a couple of hours, or the get really red just before I flare.

I had a biopsy done in 2012. It was right at the top of the bridge of my nose. Barely noticeable today, but as Baker said, I don't care. I wanted my discoid lesions to go away. The lesions were far more hideous and scarred worse than the biopsy.

My biopsy was from my scalp....just above hairline/back of neck, so no one sees that area anyway. Now in hindsight, I also had a spot in the same area as your described Robin on bridge of nose. Don't know why I didn't realize that was likely what it was even after the scalp biopsy. Prob because it was just blending in with overall redness. Finally dawned on me so I started using the topical on it and it cleared, except it has left an indentation and like a little bump. I have a scaly area on one ear right now....very small.

I know....dang - it's hard. I just got my SPF hat, because I am going to have to be "out and about" this weekend.

I have not even told my daughter any of this (don't want to her to be worried right now....she is in college), but she's going to be like "why are you wearing a hat....you never wear hats?".

There are some "scalp sunscreens" out there but I can only imagine how messy that is. I opt for the hats.
