Why is it that doctors run late but if you run late all h e l l breaks loose. It's not fair

Some doctors won't see you if you are more than 5 minutes late, but will still charge you for the appointment.

That's ridiculous, Cake. Once when I had to wait an hour to get into the little room and another 45 minutes waiting in there, I left. I told the front desk I had to get back to work, which was true. So with travel time, it was almost 3 hours wasted. I feel like sending doctors' offices a notice: "Time is money. Due to our new policy, medical providers will be charged $5 for every minute one of our members is kept waiting."

I hope you were seen!

I am home now. But my mom was late to a doctors appointment and they charged her $15 late payment due then. She paid it next time she went the doctor was running late and my mom said am I going to get a credit. They asked her what she was talking about and she explained (like they didn't know) you charged me a late fee when I was late what about when the doctor is late.

I am just to be home. I have to go back to the pharmacy then tomorrow but Mikey has a doctors appointment anyway so it doesn't matter

Now I get to look up all the lab stuff and see what it all means

I'm glad you're home. I got a kick out of your mom.

Let us know what you find out from the labs. Big hugs, Angel Cake!

So I noticed on my lab slip that they had a box for lupus kinda surprised me but I thought we are making progress.

So my ANA was positive. Big surprise there but here is what I got a kick out of

ANA IFA is the first line screen for detecting the presence of up to approximately 150 autoatibodies in various autoimmune diseases a positive ANA IFA results is suggestive of autoimmune disease and reflexes to tiger and pattern. Further laboratory testing may be considered if clinically indicated.

Now this is what made me think. A negative result should be interpreted in the context of the clinical and laboratory findings and does not rule out autoimmune diease characterized by other autoantibody specificities such as rheumatoid arthritis, autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cirrhosis, autoimmune thyroidiis, addison's diease, pernicious anemia, autoimmune neuropathic, vasculitis, celiac diease and bulbous diease.

I think they try and confuse people because this all seems like double talk to me. My SED rate was 87!way to high oh and one ANA came out positive the other negative.

There was other stuff on my labs that I don't understand and I understand a lot but of course she was running behind and I think she only glanced at my labs so next month I am going in there with an arm load of questions.

I don't think they're trying to confuse people so much as fend off phone calls from people panicking because they have a positive ANA, and you know we get a number of drive-by posts from people worried about that very thing. BUT I think the lab should include a disclaimer saying just what you said. They should even use your words. After all, this is the age of litigation, and sometime someone is going to see hte negative ANA and  decide their symptoms were all in their heads, only to find out later from WORSE symptoms that it was an autoimmune disease after all.

Wait!....you have lupus?!?! Shocker! These doctors just do blood work to do it. What are they searching for in your blood cake? Yes, you have every known AI available. Why do an ANA?? Their medicine have messed up all your organs, your tired and the rain is killing your bones. Then they give you no time after waiting two hours. Uhg!!!!!!!! Sorry. I'm frustrated for you. I vent because I love!

My doctor only does the ana test when I'm screening for clinical trials, otherwise she sees them as a waste of time.

My rheumy stopped doing the ANA after he diagnosed me based on the dsDNA being high, my symptoms and the fact that prednisone improved my symptoms. Now he repeats dsDNA and uses it as a marker for disease activity.
