I haven't been diagnosed with lupus yet since I can't see the rheumatologist until August, but I have a large number of symptoms that indicate it is a likely diagnosis and the tests my primary care doctor did show an ANA of 1:1280. I will be  moving into a new house soon that I get to have a lot of input into how things are remodeled. Does anyone have any suggestions to make a house comfortable and healthy for someone with lupus? It is a pretty old house without AC and has baseboard heat.

I would say that if you have lupus, heat can be an issue, so if you live where it gets really hot, AC is life saver. Other than that,, unless you are EXTREMELY sun sensitive and need tinted windows or need handicap access, it is no different than any other home.
Hopefully, it's not lupus and this will be a moot point.

Please do not go into to the rheumatologist appointment thinking you have lupus. You may have what you think are all the symtoms but there are between 60-80 different AI's out there that mimic lupus. It can take years to get a lupus dx and one thing that doctors do not like is for a new patient to come in and say I know I have this dx.

I would suggest you keep a note book of all your symtoms and questions so when you see the doctor you will not forget anything. If possible have a friend or family member go with you. Also look into the rheumatologist does he/she have patients with lupus? Not all rheumatologist have lupus patients.

Good luck

I'm not assuming I have lupus, but I also am thinking ahead so I don't make things worse in the meantime. My body has become very sensitive and unpredictable in the last ten years because of other illnesses. I doing everything I can to take care of my health no matter what the diagnosis. The last 6 months have just been hell with illness, so I'm trying to keep that from happening again. My choices for this new place to live are a reflection of that desire.

Well, again, I certainly hope you do not have lupus or any other AI disease. You have a long wait until August and you can drive yourself nuts....

Please go back and read your first post. It says

I haven't been diagnosed with lupus yet since I can't see the rheumatologist until August, but I have a large number of symptoms that indicate it is a likely diagnosis and the tests my primary care doctor did show an ANA of 1:1280

Having a positive ANA doesn't mean you have lupus. My ANA goes from positive to negative back to positive. And there are some people who never have positive ANA and have lupus

And lupus is not dx'd by labwork alone.

I said likely, as in it is a possible diagnosis. I understand that you have more experience with lupus, but it doesn't change the fact that me saying likely does not say I'm assuming I have lupus. It is a possibility along with a host of other things as I am very well aware.

You are sounding a bit defensive and I want you to know that our responses are in no way critical. For many of us, it took many months or years before a definitive dx was reached.

You are likely to not receive a lupus dx, but possibly MCTD or UCTD. Regardless of the name, the main treatment of Plaquenil is the same unless you have major organ involvement.

Most good rheumatologists are hesitant to dx lupus,  as once it is there, it can be difficult to obtain some types of insurance.

So, best of luck on your appointment and your new home.

And I give up I can't make people understand and unfortunately I have way to much experience with this diease to know you don't want to have it likely or unlikely.

I would suggest some reading material but it seems like you know everything there is to know about lupus.

Best of luck

Like Robin suggested AC to help with the heat is a good idea. Not a big fan of baseboard heaters as they use a lot of electricity for what little heat you get out of them. So, if you have issues with cold you might want to look into a better way to heat the house.
