that was his H.S. pic ...was about 18 i guess ... don't see me at all

in fact, we were so dissimilar in appearance - he w/ dark hair eys & me w/ light hair & eyes -  he would often ask who my father was

was 1 of many running jokes

as was, why we all would have been much much better off had he married his 1st love, betsy

Geez...
That's harsh. Sorry Anthony. But really, mental illness is awful. She must have suffered greatly.

I am sorry if offended Anthony. I did not mean to diminish your pain whatsoever. I just am sorry that she never got the proper treatment that may have spared you all.

My Mikey got me a card and a flower and he forgot to sign the card

Anthony no child should ever go through what you did

I wonder sometimes how my son is going to do when we are gone he is going to be 26 years old this year and I think sometimes we protect him to much

As well she should. And I am sure your Mom would have as well, if she had some help.

a bit of just looked-up history...

Women who sought help for their symptoms were often called "neuortic" & subjected to a variety of unusual treatments.
During the 1950s electroshock therapy was often the recommended treatment for a “neurotic" woman.

might be why the poor woman did not get any help

side note -- when i worked at a psych hos, i had to hold down a woman once during her shock treatment (refused to do it ever again after that) - we knew the treatment was over when her toes curled

just heard a report on npr about anna jarvis
founder of mother's day

she was so upset @ its commercialization, she tried to get rid of it, spending all of her money in the process...the card & flower industry reportedly ended up paying for her nursing home to shut her up

heard you had no children, but happy mother's day anyway anna

Hi! My name is Bethany and I was diagnosed with lupus at age 16. I am 18 now, and was just hired as a writer for Odyssey. For my first article, I wrote about my lupus. It's an open letter to mother of children with lupus. It would mean the world to me if you would share my link on your page and encourage others to share it as well. I'm hoping to bring more awareness to lupus through my writing. Thank you!
