Nsansa?

There are a lot of great, helpful people and lots of information here.

Sorry you're going down the lupus road at such a young age.

Take care,

Hello Nsana I'm from the UK xD

I'm 15 years old and have had discoid erythematosis (I think I spelt it wrong) since the age of 3. which I believe is a milder form of lupus. Unluckily for me, it's rare in children.

I've had a pretty relatively normal life with the occasional pupils asking "what's that" pointing at my face, but I know they're just curious. I guess it can be really psychologically damaging because you always wonder stupid thoughts like, "am I gonna be lonely forever" or "what should I say when the next person asks?" or "am I ugly?" Sometimes I get jelous of my friends because I'm reminded everyday that my skin will never be clear. What makes it even harder is the media's depiction of beauty...

However, I just remember the friends and support I have to guide me. Although there is no cure, only treatment, I just think about how lucky I am to have friends, family and a future.

Good luck with your lupus problems, it's always good to vent to another teen who understands. [wink]

Hi! Just turned 16, and diagnosed less than a year ago. I have SLE and it was pretty bad when I was hospitalized... Doctors think Ive had lupus since 13/14, so maybe I could connect a little? I ecently finished chemo/Cytoxan infusions for my lupus nephritis, and have experienced a majority of the common and even uncommon symptoms, so if you'd like to talk, I'm here for you! And also side effects from some of the common meds, (Though I don't have years of experience as many of these people do)

Hi Lizzie and welcome!

That's kind of an old post you responded to, so don't be surprised if she doesn't respond.

I'm so sorry you have lupus.  It's particularly upsetting with one as young as you are.  How are you feeling after your infusions?  Did they help you?

I hope some of the young people are lurking and will respond to you.  Hang in there and keep us updated on how you're feeling.

Mary
